Who runs the Journal

American Journal is Matt Martynenko’s personal editorial publication. For privacy questions, email [email protected].

This notice covers americanjournalpress.com and Journal correspondence. Lesson arrangements are agreed separately; the website does not take payments or book lessons.

When you visit

You can read and listen without an account. Cloudflare hosts and delivers the site. Delivering and protecting pages involves technical information such as your IP address, the page requested, browser information, and connection or security events.

The site does not use advertising pixels or behavioral profiling. Cloudflare Web Analytics is switched off. Images and audio are hosted with the site. Audio plays when you press play.

The site uses temporary browser storage to prevent repeated navigation reloads. That is a navigation function, not advertising. Cloudflare can also use necessary security technology. Your browser lets you manage stored site data.

When you contact me

I receive the name, email address, message, and attachments you send, with normal email details. Messages arrive in my Gmail inbox. This notice covers correspondence connected with the Journal.

I use those messages to answer you, handle your request, and keep necessary correspondence. Requested steps toward a lesson agreement are handled for that purpose. An inquiry does not subscribe you to marketing.

Where EU or UK privacy rules apply, requested steps before a contract rely on that legal basis; running a secure publication and answering other correspondence rely on legitimate interests, balanced against your rights. Information required by law is handled to meet that obligation.

Services and locations

Cloudflare handles website delivery and security; Google provides Gmail. These services process information internationally, including outside your country. Their privacy information explains their own handling: Cloudflare and Google. Google explains its international protections in its transfer information. Cloudflare’s data-processing terms describe its applicable transfer safeguards, including standard contractual clauses. These provider documents explain how to obtain further information or copies of relevant safeguards.

How long information stays

I keep correspondence while it is needed to deal with the request or maintain an ongoing relationship. Once that purpose ends, I delete information within 30 days unless a separate legal reason requires keeping a limited record. Shorter legal deadlines take priority. Provider backups follow the provider’s own retention arrangements.

Your information and your choices

Email me to request access, correction, deletion, or to raise a concern. Depending on the law that applies, you can also object to processing, request restrictions or portability, and withdraw any consent you have given. Withdrawing consent does not undo earlier lawful use.

Access requests are answered within 10 working days. If a permitted extension is needed, I explain it. Correction, deletion, and other requests follow their applicable deadlines. I can ask for enough information to confirm that a request is yours.

You can also complain to the data-protection authority responsible for your complaint. You do not have to contact me first.

This page will be updated when the Journal’s information handling changes.
